Abstract
TIG, TIN, TIE,, and TiCN coatings were deposited on graphite by high-t emperature chemical vapor deposition. Pin-pull tests were used to inve stigate the adhesion of the coatings to the graphite. Interfacial adhe sion was excellent and failure occurred in the graphite itself. The di stribution of failure stresses was analyzed by Weibull statistical ana lysis, which showed a good lit to the Weibull expression; failure stre sses for the coated graphite were approximately one-half that of the u ncoated graphite, although the Weibull moduli were comparable.
