Abstract
Titanium dioxide powders with different crystalline forms were prepare d from a simple aqueous peroxo route. Amorphous, nanocrystalline and c rystalline TiO2 phases were obtained by heat-treating the precursor, T i-peroxo complex, at different temperatures. The TiO2 powders were cha racterized by physical and electrochemical methods in a 1 M LiClO4/pro pylene carbonate solution for the anode in a lithium ion battery. A ma ximum reversible discharge capacity of 140 mA h g(-1) was observed for the nano-crystalline titanium dioxide. The effect of heat-treatment t emperature on the crystallinity and consequently on the storage capaci ty of TiO2 has been briefly discussed. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
