Abstract
Objectives. Emergency contraceptive pill dispensation was estimated in Michigan Title X family planning programs. Methods. Logistic regressi on and tobit estimation models were used to predict whether and to wha t extent emergency contraceptive pills are dispensed. Results. Of the 53 programs studied, 32 dispensed emergency contraceptive pills, avera ging fewer than one client per month. Total dispensation was skewed to ward a few programs, and the contribution of health departments to thi s total was small. Emergency contraceptive pill services appeared to b e randomly distributed across programs, although most dispensers repor ted having provided the pills for less than 12 months. Conclusions. Re cent policy advances should lead to more consistent emergency contrace ptive pill dispensation in Title X programs.
