Jj. Vittal et Ks. Anjali, SINUSOIDAL RIBBON WAVES IN THE CRYSTAL-STRUCTURE OF BIS(4-AMINOPHENYL)DISULFIDE, Materials research bulletin, 1998, pp. 147-152
The crystal structure of the compound bis(4-aminophenyl)disulfide was
determined by single crystal X-ray crystallography. The S-S distance i
s 2.074(1) Angstrom, and the S-S-C angles are 104.5(1) and 104.7(1)deg
rees, respectively. The C-SS-C torsion angle is 80.2(1)degrees. In the
crystal structure, the disulfide molecules are connected head-to-tail
by weak N-H ... N hydrogen bonding to form a polymeric chain and two
such strands are linked by N-H ... S bonding (S ... H distance, 2.79(2
) Angstrom) to look like sinusoidal ribbon waves when viewed down the
c-axis. The N ... N and N ... H distances are 3.160(4) and 2.36(2) Ang
strom, respectively. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
