We discuss the impact of recent experimental results on the determinat
ion of atmospheric neutrino oscillation parameters. We use all publish
ed results on atmospheric neutrinos, including the preliminary large s
tatistics data of Super-Kamiokande. We reanalyze the data in terms of
both nu(mu) --> nu(tau) and nu(mu) --> nu(e) channels using new improv
ed calculations of the atmospheric neutrino flux. We compare the sensi
tivity attained in atmospheric neutrino experiments with those of acce
lerator and reactor neutrino oscillation searches, including the recen
t CHOOZ experiment. We briefly comment on the implications of atmosphe
ric neutrino data in relation to future searches for neutrino oscillat
ions with long baselines, such as the K2K, MINOS, ICARUS, and NOE expe
riments. [S0556-2821(98)02215-2]
