S. Borgmann et A. Dorge, ADAPTATION OF MADIN-DARBY CANINE KIDNEY-CELLS TO HYPERTONIC MEDIUM - AN ELECTRON-MICROPROBE ANALYSIS, Kidney international, 54, 1998, pp. 133-135
Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells of confluent epithelial sheets
grown on permeable supports respond to hyperosmotic stress by short- a
nd long-term regulatory volume increase (RVI). Although shortterm RVI
includes the uptake of inorganic electrolytes, long-term RVI does not
and seems therefore to result from accumulation of organic osmolytes.
