The two main criteria for successful high speed yarn winding with no y
arn failure are maintaining yarn tension variations at a level suffici
ently high to achieve package stability while at the same time keeping
tension fluctuations to a minimum. Their importance arises from the f
act that uneven tension causes uneven package density, which in turn r
esults in unevenness in subsequent technological processes such as dye
ing, knitting, weaving, etc. Therefore, to manufacture a package with
acceptable quality features such as stability, constant density, const
ant package stiffness, etc., the yarn winding tension must be controll
ed during winding operations.
