Most urological problems have sexual sequelae. The majority of unexpla
ined urological symptoms have a psychosexual background, many urologic
al interventions have sexual consequences and the urologist is often c
onfronted with patients having sexual dysfunctions. For the urologist
it is therefore necessary to learn basic sexological skills and to imp
lement cooperaration with specialists in sexual medicine in daily urol
ogical practice in order to prevent somatization of psychosexual probl
ems, to provide effective care and to improve patient compliance.
