The structure, magnetic properties and the Fe-57 Mossbauer effect of L
uFe11-xAlxTi alloys were investigated in the temperature range of 4.2-
500 K. The system exists as a single phase for the x < 4 concentration
range. The lattice parameters follow Vegard's law. It has been found
that these alloys are ferromagnetic with Curie points and magnetic mom
ents decreasing with an increase in Al concentration, x. The Fe atoms
are substituted by the Al atoms mostly in the 8(i) positions and a dim
inution of hyperfine interaction results from a decrease in the averag
e number of the nearest neighboring Fe atoms.
