Ep. Deantoni et al., A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY OF VASECTOMY, TIME SINCE VASECTOMY AND PROSTATE-CANCER, PROSTATE CANCER AND PROSTATIC DISEASES, 1(2), 1997, pp. 73-78
Past studies of the association of vasectomy and prostate cancer have
reported inconsistent results. Our objective was to investigate whethe
r vasectomy and time since vasectomy are associated with a higher risk
of prostate cancer. We conducted a cross-sectional study on unduplica
ted records of > 95 000 participants in a longitudinal study (1993-199
5) of prostate cancer screening conducted during Prostate Cancer Aware
ness Week. Vasectomy was reported by 28%, and there were 2530 biopsies
. chi(2) tests and logistic regression analyses were used and found th
at vasectomy and an increased length of time since vasectomy are not a
ssociated with a higher risk of prostate cancer.
