The possibility is analyzed to use a nonlinear, stationary, two-dimens
ional model for air flow over real mountain systems, for estimation of
aircraft flight safety. General regularities of vortex-wave zone orig
ination and their scale are studied. Discussed is the choice of criter
ia for estimation of the effect of air flow disturbances on the flight
. Flow over nine different sample mountain reliefs was calculated to s
tudy the dependence of disturbance intensity on the relief shape. The
results are illustrated by detailed figures.
