Abstract
Treatment of fluoroanthracene-9,10-diones, fluorobenz[g]isoquinoline-5 ,10-diones and 1- or 4-fluoronitrobenzenes with sodium trimethylsilano ate in THF followed by acidification readily yields the corresponding hydroxyl analogues.
