Abstract
A simple and rapid HPLC method for the determination of ciclopirox, oc topirox, and pyrithiones in pharmaceutical or antidandruff formulation s has been developed. HPLC was carried out on a Purospher(R) RP-18 end capped column using acetonitrile-water containing 0.02 M ortophosphori c acid and 0.5 mM EDTA. disodium salt, (68:32, v/v) as the mobile phas e and UV detection at 305 or 340 Mn. The extraction procedure has been validated analysing samples spiked with known amounts of the active p rinciples. The recoveries were greater than 94% and the reproducibilit y was within 3%.
