Abstract
Starting from 3-(prop-2-enyl)pentane-2,4-dione, a simple synthesis of 1,1-diacetyl-2-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)cyclopropane, involving a phase-tran sfer-catalysed intramolecular alkylation, is described; based on kinet ic measurements, tetra-n-butylammonium iodide was found to be the most suitable catalyst.
