Abstract
The error in an unbiased Monte Carlo method is characterized by the va riance. By knowing the variance of different Monte Carlo estimators fo r Radiosity (and also their cost) we should be able to obtain the most efficient of them. This paper gives the variances for two such estima tors, the shooting and gathering infinite path length random walk esti mators. This completes a previous work of the author on finite path le ngth estimators. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
