Jh. Mulder et al., ANISOTROPY OF THE SHAPE-MEMORY EFFECT IN TENSION OF COLD-ROLLED 50.8-TI 49.2-NI (AT.PERCENT) SHEET, Zeitschrift fur Metallkunde, 84(7), 1993, pp. 501-508
The texture of a cold-rolled and heat-treated 50.8 Ti 49.2 Ni (at.%) s
heet has been determined and designated as 1110{110BAR!p. According t
o the crystallography of the martensitic transformation in TiNi this t
exture would result in a maximum planar anisotropy of the tensile shap
e memory strain. This anisotropy is confirmed by thermo-mechanical tes
ts. Furthermore, the anisotropy of the permanent strain during thermal
cycling and of the strain associated with the formation of the R phas
e have been measured and explained. The knowledge of these orientation
dependences can be useful regarding specific requirements of certain
applications.
