An African grey parrot with a head tilt and left leg paralysis was dia
gnosed as having a Salmonella typhimurium infection from clinical sign
s, supporting laboratory work, and the growth of this bacteria from a
cloacal swab. The bird's condition stabilized on treatment, but it eve
ntually developed seizures and died. A necropsy and histopathology rev
ealed two large granulomatous lesions in the brain with necrosis and p
erivascular cuffing and scattered pyogranulomas in the liver
