Abstract
Intravenous catheter fragment emboli were diagnosed by thoracic radiog raphy in the right-side heart of a cat and in the left caudal pulmonar y artery of a dog. Both emboli were removed successfully by transvenou s use of a ureter stone removal catheter with a retractable helical ba sket tip. Causes, complications, and techniques for removal of intrave nous catheter emboli are discussed.
