COEXISTING STRUCTURES IN SN-115 AND SN-116

Excited states up to I approximate to 20 in Sn-115 and Sn-116, populat ed via the (O-18, alpha xn) reactions, have been studied using the DOR IS Ge detector array in conjunction with charged particle detectors. I n both nuclei, spherical as well as regular, deformed level structures were found. The spherical states are interpreted to arise from pure n eutron configurations, while the deformed, intruder hands obviously in volve proton 2p-2h excitations across the Z = 50 shell gap.
