Abstract
We discuss the evolution of SRS (stimulated Raman scattering) solitons from cos-shaped initial pulses for which the direct scattering proble m can be solved explicitly. The soliton parameters and the percentage of radiation are determined. Analytical results are supplemented by nu merical calculations. We give several arguments for SRS solitons being genuine solitons.
