Abstract
The special situation of the pension insurance fund in Germany shows a considerable increase of problems due to the present conditions of th e labour market. Neurologists' expert opinions are of growing importan ce in legal proceedings. Neurological expert opinions of one year's is sues (n=169) have been reevaluated retrospectively in order to examine their role more closely, as in most cases these reports are requested towards the end of the decisive process. Hereby several levels of pro ceedings have to be taken into consideration. In general the expert's recommandations are duly obeyed in court. Additive reports and extent of the assessment are critically examined. The duration of the proceed ings complicates the explosive nature of the occurance in the social-p olitical field and is of disadvantage for the person involved. Questio nnaires mailed to the plaintiffs made it possible to get comprehensibl e information regarding the conclusion of the proceedings.
