Abstract
The half-life of Se-79, a long-lived fission product nuclide, has neve r been measured accurately. The value quoted in the literature is an u pper limit, less than or equal to 6.5 . 10(4) y, measured in 1949. In the present work we measured accurately the half-life of Se-79 to be ( 4.8 +/- 0.4). 10(5) y using a radiochemical method.
