In this paper we present an approach for linearization and decoupling
of nonlinear descriptor systems. This approach is based on differentia
l geometric methods and on the semi-explicit form of a descriptor syst
em. Therefore it is not necessary to calculate a normal form of the sy
stem. Within the derivation of the procedure, special characteristics
of descriptor systems are considered which are unknown using different
ial geometric methods in the state space form without algebraic equati
ons.
