Inclusive and exclusive (pi,eta) reactions are studied in a momentum s
pace DWIA model. We assume both reactions are dominated by formation o
f an N(1535) resonance, taking into account medium corrections to the
N self energy. Cross sections are calculated for (pi+, eta) inclusive
reactions on C-12 and compared with both experiment and previous theo
retical calculations. Assuming an N free width of 150 MeV, we obtain
quantitative agreement with experiment, assuming this reaction is domi
nated by quasifree single-nucleon knockout. Differential and total cro
ss sections are calculated for the exclusive reaction C-13(pi+, eta)N-
13.
