Abstract
In this paper, the methodology of using fuzzy logic techniques to impr ove the performance of an operating system is discussed. Through analy sis, we have found that many elements of an operating system, process management, storage management, file management, distributed system man agement, etc., can be fuzzified so as to tackle the problems with fuzz y information and to allow users to use the computer systems convenien tly and efficiently. The aims of fuzzy operating systems built on conv entional operating systems are (1) convenience for users: to allow use rs to operate computer systems naturally and conveniently in both cert ain and uncertain environments; (2) efficiency of computer systems: to make the computer systems work efficiently and economically under pre cise as well as fuzzy conditions.
