The study examined 84 patients and their 84 closely related family mem
bers, includind the family attitude toward schizophrenic disorder and
the future of the schizophrenic patients. The common attitude among ke
y family members toward the schizophrenic disorder is mostly positive
and studying their opinions about the disorder and the potential futur
e of the schizophrenic family member we estimated a statistically sign
ificant correlation. The study has not determined the influence of the
demographic features previous family disorder history among the key f
amily members of the schizophrenic patients on their opinions about th
e schizophrenic disorder and the future of the schizophrenic family me
mber. In the case of severe psychopathological disorder symptoms in th
e schizophrenic patients, the key family members would have a negative
attitude toward the patient's future, whereas the less noticeable psy
copathological disorder symptom presence would contribute to a more po
sitive attitude towards the patient's future. The key family member's
attitude towards the patient's future has not been influenced signific
antly by the disorder's duration, psychotic decompensation number and
the time spent in hospital.
