Abstract
The correlation between the stellar mass ratio q for eclipsing binary systems and the masses M-1 and M-2 of the stars is investigated. Conta ct and semi-detached systems display reliable correlations between the mass ratio q and the mass of the secondary M-2. For both classes of b inaries studied, the rate with which q decreases as M-2 decreases beco mes slower for more massive stars.
