The spectral energy curves for a number of O4-O8 stars are analyzed us
ing measurements taken from six sources of spectrophotometric data. Ba
sed on the normal UBV color indices for O stars, these stars are divid
ed into three groups (O5, O6-O7, and O8), for each of which the normal
energy distribution is derived and presented. Comparison of these dis
tributions indicates clear differences between the O5 and O8 subclasse
s at UV wavelengths. A single normal distribution curve is, therefore,
insufficient to characterize the O spectral class as a whole.
