Abstract
Basic crystallographic and physical properties of bulk Zn1-xBexSe (0<x <0.18) crystals are briefly reported. The preliminary results obtained for three crystals show that they crystallize in the sphalerite struc ture type. The experimental values of the lattice parameter and excito n transition energy are given. An increase of microhardness in Zn0.82B e0.18Se by the factor 2.37 in relation to ZnSe is observed. Its relati ve increase is larger than that reported earlier for thin Zn1-xBexSe l ayers. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
