Abstract
From 4-7 December 1997 the 3rd International Workshop on Rainfall in U rban Areas took place in Pontresina, Switzerland. Forty-five participa nts from 20 countries around the world made it a success. Presentation s and discussions represented a high scientific level without neglecti ng the practitioners point of view. In fact, future trends, such as co upling of models of different origins for rainfall forecasting, detail ed spatial analysis of rainfall, methods for quality control of measur ed data, and aspects of climatic change were cornerstones of the works hop. In the following, the outcome of the sessions are briefly highlig hted. (C) 1998 IAWQ. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights res erved.
