The complex ion of the title molecule, (+)(589)- [Co(C2H8N2)(2)(C12H12
N2O4)](ClO4)(3), has twofold symmetry and the absolute configuration i
s ii. The seven-membered chelate ring of the 4,4'-dimethoxy-2,2'-bi-py
ridine 1,1'-dioxide ligand adopts a delta chiral skew conformation, wh
ich forms a lel structure in the complex ion. The dihedral angle betwe
en the two pyridine rings is 61.2(2)degrees, and the O-Co-O bite angle
is 91.3(2)degrees. The ethylenediamine chelates take a delta-gauche c
onformation in the complex ion.
