New crystalline open-framework materials with both novel and zeolitic
framework topologies have been prepared by incorporating transition-me
tal ions into gallium-phosphate frameworks. The 'MeGaPOs' are synthesi
sed under predominantly nonaqueous conditions by crystallisation of re
active GaPO gels containing an additional framework element (Me=Mn, Fe
, Co or Zn) and a cyclic organic amine (imidazole, pyridine, pyrrolidi
ne, DABCO or quinuclidine). The gels are heated for 7 days in autoclav
es under autogeneous pressure at temperatures in the range 160-180 deg
rees C. Under these synthetic conditions, MeGaPOs have been prepared w
ith the LAU (Me = Mn, Fe, Co, Zn), GIS (Me = Co, Zn) and SOD (Me = Co,
Zn) zeolite framework structures as well as three new topologies, CoG
aPO-5 (CGF), CoGaPO-6 (CGS) and MnGaPO-2. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.
