Abstract
This is an exhaustive review of phosphorus-functionalized calix[4]aren es. Effective methodologies are described that allow preparation of de rivatives with phosphate, phosphonate, phosphine oxide and P(III)-cont aining groups. It is shown that phosphoryl-containing calix[4] arenes display interesting ionophoric properties, in particular with respect to the extraction and separation of lanthanides and actinides.
