Abstract
Measurements of the longitudinal ultrasonic velocity and the attenuati on along the x-, y- and z-axes have been carried out in DBPI single cr ystals in the vicinity of the ferroelectric phase transition. Regardle ss of the weakness of elastic anomalies at T-c the ultrasonic behaviou r in DBPI can be explained by the Landau-Khalatnikov theory for uniaxi al ferroelectrics. The temperature dependence of the polarisation rela xation time was estimated to be tau = 10(-9)/(T-c - T) s.
