Av. Churikov et al., SIMULATION OF IONIC TRANSPORT IN PASSIVATING FILMS ON THE LITHIUM ELECTRODE, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 34(7), 1998, pp. 591-599
The electrical properties of passivating films formed on the surface o
f the Li electrode in solutions based on propylene carbonate are studi
ed. The polarization curves obtained by means of single current pulses
show that the rate of transfer of mobile Li+ ions through the passiva
ting film is limited by the space charge of the ions, which are inject
ed in it from the electrode or from the solution at anodic and cathodi
c current direction, respectively. A model of the ionic transport that
allows for the injection currents and the intrinsic film conductivity
is suggested. The mobility and concentration of the Li+ ions in the p
assivating him and the thickness of the electrical double layer at the
metal/film interface are estimated, and their changes during the elec
trode storage in solution are discussed.
