Ls. Kanevskii et Tl. Kulova, INFLUENCE OF THE DISCHARGE MODE OF LITHIUM-THIONYL CHLORIDE CELLS ON THEIR CHARACTERISTICS, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 34(7), 1998, pp. 635-638
The dependence of the discharge characteristics of Lithium-thionyl chl
oride cells on the discharge regime, in particular, on its periodicity
, is studied. It is shown that, in the case of discharge at a constant
temperature, the current interruption practically does not affect the
cell's capacity, no matter the discharge current density and the rati
o of the discharge time to the open-circuit time. However, if the cell
is discharged for the first time at a low temperature and the subsequ
ent recuperation occurs at a high temperature, the cell capacity can b
e considerably increased. This effect is explained by recrystallizatio
n of poorly soluble discharge products in pores of the carbon cathode.
