We calculate the chiral odd quark distributions and the corresponding
structure functions h(T)(x, Q(2)) and h(L)(x, Q(2)) within the Nambu-J
ona-Lasinio chiral soliton model for the nucleon. The Q(2) evolution o
f the twist-2 contributions is performed according to the standard GLA
P formalism while the twist-3 piece (h) over bar(L)(x) is evolved acco
rding to the large N-C scheme. We carry out a comparison between the c
hiral odd structure functions of the proton and the neutron. At the lo
w model scale (Q(0)(2)) we find that the leading twist effective quark
distributions f(1)((q)) (x,Q(0)(2)), g(1)((q)) (x, Q(0)(2)) and h(T)(
9(q)) (x, Q(0)(2)) satisfy Soffer's inequality for both quark flavors
