R. Zegdi et al., AORTIC-VALVE SURGERY IN OSTEOGENESIS IMPERFECTA - REPORT OF 2 CASES AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, Journal of heart valve disease, 7(5), 1998, pp. 510-514
Aortic insufficiency is a well known but uncommon valvular dysfunction
in patients with osteogenesis imperfecta. In such cases, aortic valve
surgery has rarely been performed, and carries a high risk of periope
rative complications. We report two patients with osteogenesis imperfe
cta, who underwent elective successful aortic valve replacement. The s
urgical problems encountered in this connective tissue disorder are al
so reviewed.
