Abstract
The potential of recycled Poly(ethylene terephtalate) (PET) as a surfa ce coating for steel corrosion protection, using a vinyl resin coating (PVC) as a control was studied. This investigation led us to develop a method to measure the adhesion strength of plastic coatings on steel under specific environmental conditions (temperature and UV exposure) . All the results obtained showed that recycled PET presented very goo d adhesion on steel an that temperature and UV exposure induced only i nsignificant loss of adhesion. The results also showed that UV exposur e induced a slight degradation of the PET.
