Abstract
The history, objectives and aims of this programme are described in de tail. The principal goals achieved on anticonception, reproductive bio logy and abortion are analyzed, with special reference to the research done in Chile. The strenghtening of research capabilities at national level was pointed out with special mention to the Chilean case.
