Abstract
We compute high-energy electron-impact (100-1000 eV) dissociation and photodissociation cross sections of HCl producing H and CI neutral ato ms through the X(1)Sigma(+)(upsilon = 0) --> A(1)Pi transition. The el ectron-impact dissociation cross sections are obtained in the first Bo rn approximation, and are reported for the first time. Hartree-Fock fo llowed by configuration interaction wavefunctions are used and vibrati onal degrees are considered. The dissociation cross sections as a func tion of the continuum energy are presented. Photodissociation cross se ctions are obtained and compared with previous theoretical and experim ental results.
