K. Yabuki et M. Kono, COLLECTIVE BEHAVIOR OF VORTICES IN A CYLINDRICAL MAGNETIZED PLASMA, Physics of fluids. B, Plasma physics, 5(8), 1993, pp. 3103-3105
The modulated vortex model introduced by Zabusky and McWilliams [Phys.
Fluids 25, 2175 (1982)] is applied to a cylindrical plasma to study d
ynamical behavior of a many-vortex system. Anticyclones are shown to b
e long lived while cyclones are dissolved into the core and outer dres
ses which are left behind the core. This observation is in good agreem
ent with the experimental results by Antipov et al. [Sov. J. Plasma Ph
ys. 14, 648 (1988)].
