This paper proposes using liquid dioctyl phthalate (DOP) as a scrubbin
g agent to reduce emissions and recycle waste DOP back to the process.
Gas chromatography (GC) was employed to determine the DOP content in
the waste gas. The effects of waste gas and scrubbing agent temperatur
es and the waste gas flow rate on the removal of DOP from the waste ga
s were investigated. Rather good DOP removal efficiency was obtained.
The relationship between the height of transfer unit (H-t) of the pack
ed scrubbing tower and operating conditions, derived on the basis of p
articulate transport and impaction theories, can be used to design the
packed scrubbing tower.
