Abstract
To guarantee a high degree of comfort for the patient, instruments and endoscopes used for minimally invasive examination and therapy have t o be miniaturised. However, since both the mechanical parameters of th e instruments and the optical parameters of endoscopes will strongly d epend on the relevant diameter, there are limits to miniaturisation, c onsidering safety aspects of the devices.
