As the rate of animal extinction accelerates, the need for cooperation
among local, national and international conservation organisations be
comes more pressing. The Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust (JWPT), an
d its sister organisations Wildlife Preservation Trust International (
WPTI) and Wildlife Preservation Trust Canada (WPTC) fully recognise th
at if long-term conservation efforts are to succeed, there must be loc
al in-country involvement. Resulting from such an understanding, and b
y balancing ex-situ expertise with in-situ partnership endeavours, the
Wildlife Preservation Trusts (WPTs) have adopted a multi-disciplinary
approach to the implementation of their conservation mission. This pa
per records the formal Memoranda of Understanding and Agreements that
JWPT is signatory to, and summarises the main objectives of these part
nerships in conservation.
