The fluorides CuMoF6 and CrNbF6 are triclinic, isostructural with CuSn
F6. Their crystal structures were solved in the space group P (1) over
bar, by the Rietveld method using the data of their X-ray powder patt
erns. Both crystal structures can be described as a three-dimensional
framework of alternating 6 corner-sharing [(MF6)-F-II] and [M'F-IV(6)]
octahedra (M-II = Cr, Cu; M'(IV) = Nb, Mo) with ferrodistortive Jahn-
Teller ordering.
