The 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane [TPA] complexes of the type [MCl2
(TPA)(2)] (where M = Ni, Pd, Pt), [Ni(CN)(2)(TPA)(3)] and [PtCl(TPA)(3
)](BPh4) have been synthesized and characterized by H-1, (31)p{H-1} NM
R, Laser-Raman spectroscopy and elemental anaIyses; The reactivity of
the complexes [MCl2(TPA)(2)] with water to produce the oxide of TPA fo
llows the order Pt > Pd > Ni. The structure of the Complex [Ni(CN)(2)(
TPA)(3)]. 4.3H(2)O was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction
methods. The structure deter mination shows that the nickel atom has a
trigonal-bipyramidal geometry with the cyanide ligands in the apical
positions. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
