M. Kurihara et al., INFLUENCE OF PLASMA MODIFICATION OF GLASSY-CARBON POWDER ON ITS ELECTROCHEMICAL PROPERTIES, Chemistry Letters, (8), 1998, pp. 715-716
Spherical glassy carbon powders were treated in Ar-H-2, Ar-N-2 and Ar-
H-2-CO2 induction thermal plasmas under a pressure of 53 kPa. Electroc
hemical measurements were performed to elucidate the function as an an
ode of lithium secondary battery. Pseudo equilibrium potential profile
s in the intermittent charge/discharge data indicated that the plasma-
treated powders had higher capacity than the untreated sample, which w
ould be due to the induced modification by the plasma treatment on che
mical composition and morphology on the surface, as well as the graphi
tization in the bulk of powders.
