Maximum entropy has been successfully applied to problems of optical i
mages and NMR spectroscopy. In this paper, we present the results of m
aximum entropy deconvolution applied to simulated and real chromatogra
phic data. A brief theoretical discussion is given. The technique is t
ested both qualitatively and quantitatively using simulated data. Peak
resolution can be dramatically improved but quantitative accuracy is
limited. The technique is applied to a re-analysis of Pioneer Venus ch
romatographic data and to storage column data. (C) 1998 Elsevier Scien
