Abstract
It has been shown that optical single sideband modulation is useful fo r mitigation of fibre chromatic dispersion effects on subcarrier inten sity modulated-direct detection optical links. It is shown that a simp le phase compression technique mw be employed to reduce the complexity of microwave subcarrier modulated optical links, yielding a general m ethod for phase modulation that is compatible with the inherent argume nt multiplication encountered in harmonic translation through nonlinea r optical networks.
